FILESOFT WORKING-DAY DEADLINES
Teaching example · 0.1.0 · 23 October 2026

Open Filesoft Working-day Deadlines_0.1.0.fmp12 in FileMaker Pro on macOS.
Use Load examples if the cases are not already present, then choose a case.
The file requires FileMaker Pro 19.6.1 or later because its example loader uses
transaction script steps. It was generated with Claris tools 26.0.2.219.
Owner screenshots show cases 01, 02, 03, 06, 08 and 19 on macOS. This does not
establish full native interaction or cross-version compatibility testing.

HOW TO USE IT
Change the start date, working-day count or any of the six optional holiday
dates for that case. Enter dates in the date format accepted by your FileMaker
installation. Results and the original reference use YYYY-MM-DD.
Click Refresh results to commit your inputs. Selecting another case also
attempts to save the current inputs. Each case has its own holiday dates.

The result card shows the calculated deadline and excluded-day totals.
The trace shows the first eight calendar dates examined; totals cover the
whole interval. The reference card retains the expected result for the
original inputs. After editing, a message says that reference no longer
applies. Restore the original inputs to compare again.

Load examples is designed to preserve existing records and edits on repeated
clicks. It is not a reset button. Keep a closed backup before experimenting
if you want a fresh starting copy. Never copy the file while it is open.

RULES IN THIS EXAMPLE
- Working days are Monday to Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are excluded.
- A positive count starts AFTER the start date. The start is not day 1.
- Zero returns the start unchanged, even on a weekend or listed holiday.
- Optional holidays are fictional dates for learning; blank slots are ignored.
- Duplicate holiday entries exclude a date once. A holiday on a weekend is
already excluded; no substitute or observed holiday is invented.
- Counts must be whole numbers from 0 to 260. Missing and invalid inputs
should display a useful message, not a plausible deadline.
- Counting stops at the end of year 4000 and has a 730-calendar-day safeguard.
- The calendar-day comparison simply adds the requested number of days.

SCOPE
This is an independent teaching example, not an update to Asset Care or the
recurring due dates example. It does not create work orders, send reminders,
retrieve holiday calendars, handle half-days or count backwards. Holidays are
limited to six slots per case to keep the demonstration easy to inspect.
The fixed desktop layout is 1280 × 920 points. WebDirect, Go, Windows and hosted
use are outside this local review.

REVIEW STATUS
The generated structure, script assignments, field references and calculation
text were checked after XML re-export. An independent Python calendar check
matches the 22 expected results. An approximate HTML preview checks geometry
and text fit. These checks do not execute FileMaker calculations or establish
native visual or interaction correctness. Test the cases and interactions relevant to your app before adapting it.
